Back-to-Mono: More news on synthetic polymer recycling

In a recently concluded collaboration between Leiden University and Dutch DNA Biotech, novel biological approaches using fungi were explored to recycle synthetic polymers, in particular from matrasses. This research project provided a perfect industrial fit to the news that The Netherlands is a front-runner in matrass recycling. Students from various Dutch universities contributed both in the lab and in industrial case studies to the project, which was carried out with a Top Sector Energy Subsidy from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
